IMPORTANT NEWS SUMMER HOURS - Effective July 1, 2009 to September 8, 2009, the Borough offices will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Building department will be closing at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays for permit processing.
FIREWORKS displayed by the Garden State Fireworks, sponsored by the Oradell Special Events Committe will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:00 p.m., at Memorial Field. Glow necklaces, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, kettle corn and beverages will be available for purchase. The Oradell Special Events Committe would like to convey their gratitude to residents and business establishments for their continued support. Please join us in the celebration of America's Independence.
INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. After the ceremonies, there will be games for children supervised by Recreation Director Douglas Parcells, and pony rides sponsored by the Greater River Dell Chamber of Commerce at Memorial Field. Boy Scout Troop 36 will be selling hot dogs and beverages. Entertainment and refreshments (for Oradell residents only) will be available at the southwest corner of Memorial Field in the grove. "Green Fleet" Grows With Addition of BMW MINI E(100% Electric) Cars - On June 17th the Borough of Oradell received two (2) new BMW MINI E vehicles.
NEW RECYCLING SCHEDULE As you know, our recycling schedule has changed. Your first garbage day is your recycling pick up day. The new recycling calendar is on the borough’s website under Recycling Schedule. A Recycling Schedule was also inserted in the June 24th issue of the Town News and a copy of the schedule is fortcoming in the Summer issue of the Oradell Newsletter.

MAYOR DIDIO GIVES UP $5,000.00 ANNUAL SALARY; COUNCIL AGREES TO 10% REDUCTION Mayor Dianne Camelo Didio recently announced that she was giving up her annual Mayoral stipend of $5,000.00 as a cost savings measure to assist the borough during these difficult economic times. The Council also agreed to cut their individual stipends by 10%.

Biodiesel Pilot Project - At 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 30th, Mayor Dianne Didio started up the 1st Oradell Vehicle Powered by Recycled Waste Vegetable Oil! This historic event took place at the Oradell DPW Garage. Oradell became only the 2nd Community in the Tri-State Area to have a vehicle powered by its' own recycled waste vegetable oil donated by local restaurants. Please look for the "This Truck Runs On Recycled Vegetable Oil" truck(s) in the Borough. Channel 77 captured the event and will air the segment periodically. To donate Recycled Waste Vegetable Oil please contact Wolfgang Albrecht, Borough Administrator at walbrecht@oradell.org or DPW Supt. Rob Stauffer at rstauffer@oradell.org. Telemarketing -Calls have been made in our area using the Police Chief's Association name to obtain personal information, please do not respond and contact police department at (201) 261-0200 immediately. Bridge Closure - The Elm Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, for safety reasons, immediately and for an indefinite time. Please note: On Tuesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the public meeting of the Mayor and Council, the County's Engineering Department presented options for the rehabilitation/repair of the bridge. At the present time, it is estimated that the bridge will be closed by the County for 10-12 months. Periodic updates will be provided here.
